Over the next decade, the geographic environment in Tower Hamlets will experience more change than anywhere else in London; the Council has ambitious plans to generate more new homes and jobs than any other in the London area.
In support of this, the Council is continually developing and evolving its use of Geographic Information Systems and spatial data to help provide business intelligence in underpinning strategic planning, its implementation in Tower Hamlets and the monitoring of resulting changes.
As a GIS Data Analyst, you will be responsible for using GIS as your key analysis tool, utilising desktop and web-based systems so as to allow quick and structured access to spatial data, both in textual and geographic formats.
You will work with a variety of professional technical teams and play a key role in providing map and data analysis in a GIS capacity in the production of local development plans from initial stages to adoption.
Verbal and written communication skills and familiarity with relevant systems are vital. Knowledge of GIS systems and techniques, town planning, building control and land charge processes and an appreciation of the issues faced in an ethnically diverse environment are essential.
Clear thinking, problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse and find solutions to meet changing requirements are also necessary. In addition, you’ll need to be capable of absorbing information, preparing map-based and data-driven proposals options and be able to assess their impact on service delivery.
