A second position funded under the same project is available in the School of Engineering and Materials Science, advertised https://webapps2.is.qmul.ac.uk/jobs/job.action?jobID=2643

The aim of the project is to develop and investigate low cost functional carbon materials to be used as negative electrodes in Na-ion batteries. Under the supervision of Dr Alan Drew and Prof Martin Dove, with overall project guidance from Prof. Magdalena Titirici, the successful candidate will characterise the morphology, pore structure, defects, local structure and ion diffusion of the carbon electrodes using a range of techniques, including X-ray and Neutron total scattering, quasi-inelastic neutron scattering, x-ray and neutron diffraction, muon spin rotation and NMR. In particular, the Na storage mechanisms and ion diffusion are of critical importance.

All applicants should have, or be about to gain, a PhD or equivalent in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics or equivalent subject. Experience in appropriate research techniques relevant position are required, as outlined in the job description.
