We are seeking five enthusiastic applicants for our Gardening (Horticultural)Apprenticeship Programme. The positions are a two year fixed term contract.

As an a apprentice you will join Hillingdon Council's Green Spaces team, a team of dedicated 'Britain in Bloom' award winnersYou will be working as part of this team to ensure an excellent service is delivered to our residents and other customers.

Our programme invites you to bring your unique skills and experience to our organisation, and promises to challenge you. No two days at Hillingdon are the same, and you will complete your apprenticeship and gain the experience and qualifications sought by future employers to push your CV to the top of the pile.

As an apprentice we offer both practical and classroom based learning in a wide variety of horticultural tasks including, grass cutting, sports maintenance, bedding displays, shrub and hedge maintenance.

We welcome people of all ages to take advantage of our apprenticeship programme. Whether you are at the beginning of your professional career or re-entering the workforce, we want to hear from you!

Our five successful candidates will earn £11,732 annual salary (equivalent to £224 per week) - and also receive a generous holiday allowance! (Please note that pay intervals are monthly).

About the person

We are looking for individuals who are interested in starting a career in Horticulture preferably school leaver age but also anyone who maybe looking to change careers or getting back to work.

You will have a pro-active approach to work, be conscientious, flexible, customer focused and enjoy working as part of a team.

If you have grade A*-C in Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent you will be able achieve a City and Guilds Level 2. 

You will be required to attend college as part of your learning and development to obtain a City and Guilds Level 2 qualification in Horticulture.

To be considered, an equivalent or higher level qualification in the same professional area (City & Guilds in Horticulture) cannot be held.
